At Wright Auto Works, community is at the heart of everything we do. One of the ways we live out that value is through an ongoing event we’re proud to host right here in Loganville: Heels and Wheels—an empowering, hands-on automotive workshop designed for women, by women.
What started as a single women’s workshop in 2019 has grown into a movement that’s changing how women approach car care—and changing how the automotive industry serves them.
The Story Behind Heels and Wheels
Heels and Wheels was created by Samantha Wright, an experienced shop manager and educator, who saw firsthand how intimidating it can feel for women to walk into a repair shop and not be taken seriously. She had experienced it herself—second-guessing her questions, instincts, and ability to understand what was happening with her vehicle. Despite the fact that 70% of car repair decisions are made by women, many still feel unsure or excluded from the conversation. That didn’t sit right with Samantha. So in 2019, she launched Heels and Wheels to change that reality—starting with a single event and growing it into a movement designed to empower women with knowledge, confidence, and control when it comes to their vehicles. Now hosted multiple times a year at Wright Auto Works in Loganville, GA, Heels and Wheels provides a safe, welcoming space for anyone—especially women—who want to understand more about their cars without needing any background knowledge or technical experience.Who It’s For
Heels and Wheels is open to everyone—but especially designed for women and drivers who don’t typically feel comfortable in automotive settings. Whether you’re a first-time driver, a busy mom, or someone who simply wants to stop feeling intimidated by that “check engine” light, this event is for you. It’s not about turning participants into mechanics. It’s about helping them feel comfortable, confident, and capable when faced with a repair decision. What You’ll Learn
Each workshop is highly interactive, friendly, and hands-on. Sessions typically last 2 to 4 hours and create a group atmosphere that encourages conversation, questions, and one-on-one instruction. Here’s a look at the practical skills participants gain:- How to identify common fluid leaks by sight and smell
- Recognizing dashboard warning lights and understanding what they mean
- Hearing examples of common repair-related sounds so you know what to listen for
- Watching a live tire-change demonstration and learning how to do it safely
- Understanding what questions to ask when speaking to a repair shop
- Interpreting inspection reports so you’re never left in the dark
- Connecting with local resources, such as tow services, insurance agents, and more
Creating Confidence—Not Just Knowledge
Heels and Wheels is built around the belief that confidence doesn’t start with knowledge—it starts with feeling safe, respected, and heard. That’s why every workshop focuses not just on technical know-how, but also on building trust and empowerment in an environment where every voice matters. The results speak for themselves. Many participants report walking into the workshop unsure, but leaving feeling powerful and proud. Some have gone on to take a more active role in their families’ car repair decisions, while others have even pursued careers in automotive. In fact, four past attendees are now working as certified technicians after starting their journeys at a Heels and Wheels event.A Growing Movement with Deep Roots in Loganville
Since its first event, Heels and Wheels has continued to grow in size and impact. What started as a one-time workshop has grown into a respected and recurring event, now hosted multiple times a year at Wright Auto Works in Loganville, GA. The event is supported by a strong network of local businesses and sponsors, including auto parts suppliers, insurance brokers, towing companies, and detailing services. Their support helps keep the event free to attend, with all materials and instruction provided at no cost. In the future, any ticket sales from special events will help fund technical training for young women pursuing a career in the automotive field—furthering Samantha’s mission of long-term empowerment. How to Attend
